For more than 50 years, Ron the Sewer Rat has been fulfilling the plumbing, drain cleaning, and sewer inspection needs of Twin Cities residents. Built on honest work, fair pricing, and quality service, our company has grown alongside the communities we serve, while staying true to the values that started it all.
Ron the Sewer Rat was founded in 1972 by Ron Moey, whose hands-on approach and commitment to quality built a strong reputation across the Twin Cities. In those early days, customers found him in the Yellow Pages — then the cutting edge of marketing. Ron believed in quality work, honest pricing, and showing up when promised.
In 2011, Ron’s son, Leland (“Lee”) Moey, officially took the reins as Ron prepared for retirement. Lee preserved the company’s family-owned values while modernizing operations, introducing dispatch software, launching the first website, and adding branded decals to the vans.
In 2018, ownership transitioned to longtime employees Peter Kroening and Mike Romig, who had worked their way up in the company and served customers in the field for years. Today, Ron the Sewer Rat remains locally owned and operated, with Ron and Lee still actively involved in providing guidance. While ownership and operations have evolved over the years, our commitment to honest work and serving the Twin Cities has remained the same.
“We’ve come a long way from the Yellow Pages, but we still believe in doing the job right.”
— Peter Kroening
Honest recommendations, transparent pricing, and exceptional customer care — we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and value long-term relationships with our community over short-term gains.
Upgraded tools and equipment, including advanced sewer cameras and diagnostic technology, allow for more accurate inspections, clearer communication, and better long-term solutions for our customers. We’ve also expanded and modernized our fleet with new vans designed to carry the additional equipment needed to handle a wider range of drain and sewer challenges efficiently.
Our drain technicians are full-time employees, not contractors. They are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health care, retirement plans, disability coverage, paid vacation, and sick time. These investments reflect our commitment to doing things the right way: supporting our technicians, improving our capabilities, and delivering dependable, high-quality service for the long term.
